HVO
Powered by HVO: The End of Red Diesel
The construction industry has traditionally been a heavy contributor to carbon emissions. At Tilsley Groundworks, we are actively decoupling our growth from our carbon footprint. We are phasing out standard fossil diesel across our heavy fleet in favor of Hydrotreated Vegetable Oil (HVO).
Why HVO?
HVO is a synthetic, paraffinic fuel made from 100% renewable raw materials (waste fats and vegetable oils). It is a "drop-in" replacement that reduces net CO2 emissions by up to 90%, while also significantly lowering nitrogen oxide (NOx) and particulate matter.
For the Developer: Using Tilsley Groundworks directly lowers the "Embodied Carbon" calculation of your build, helping you achieve BREEAM Excellent status or meet local authority sustainability targets in Lichfield and Birmingham.
Treat Waste as a Resource
The era of "Dig and Dump" is over. Sending demolition arisings to landfill is not only environmentally irresponsible; it is financially inefficient due to rising Landfill Tax. We operate a strict Site Waste Management Plan (SWMP) on every project, viewing demolition rubble not as waste, but as raw material.
1
Segregation & Strip
Before structural demolition begins, we soft-strip the building. Timber, metal, and plastics are segregated into dedicated skips for recycling at licensed transfer stations.
2
On-Site Crushing
We utilize mobile concrete crushers to process masonry and concrete on-site. Instead of paying to haul this material away, we convert it into certified 6F2 and 6F5 aggregate.
3
Re-Integration
This recycled aggregate is immediately re-used to form the piling mats, haul roads, and sub-bases for the new development.
The Result:
We eliminate hundreds of lorry movements from local roads, reduce noise and pollution for neighbors, and save our clients thousands in aggregate purchase costs.

Health & Safety
Protecting the Habitat
Biodiversity & Ecology
Construction does not have to mean destruction. Whether we are working on a greenfield site in Derbyshire or a brownfield regeneration in Tamworth, we work closely with ecologists to protect the local flora and fauna.

Root Protection Areas (RPA)
Trees are vital assets. We install robust Heras fencing and ground protection to create Root Protection Areas in accordance with BS 5837. We utilize "No-Dig" construction methods for driveways and paths that pass near protected trees, using cellular confinement systems to prevent soil compaction and root damage
Wildlife Mitigation
Our site supervisors are trained to recognize protected species. We regularly install exclusion fencing for Great Crested Newts and badger setts, ensuring that your development remains compliant with the Wildlife and Countryside Act.
